I bought this book due to my love for this series, plus I was itching in excitement from the cliffhanger in the last book. But after reading the book, I honestly felt disappointed and empty inside.
As a fan of the Shopaholic series, I have followed Becky's journey from the beginning; I was with her when she was struggling from debt, falling in love, finding her half sister, getting married, having a baby, going to Hollywood, and lastly finding her father who "ran away". I have adored Becky and her people. They are very charismatic, fun, and real. It's like I really know them so very well in real life, it's like they are my best friends. But in this last and most recent book, I don't think I can say the same.
I felt like most of the plot in this story is very unrealistic and made up. The characters suddenly became strangers to me, they felt so distant and crazy. Suze being BFFs with Bitch-Long-Legs? Elinor getting drunk? Minnie riding a raging sheep? Oh and Becky, sweet Becky, nothing she did was right. I was as frustrated as her, if not even more. And if I could compare the book to a living thing, it was a mad dog trying to break free of it's chains, the book in my hand was out of control. Who are these people I am reading about and where did the ones I know go?
(I also wish that there was more Luke in the story. He is after all a dashing, and sweet man.)
The thing that I liked about this book has to be the closure at the end of this book. It's like there was finally a sense of peace and righteousness in Becky's world and also in my mind.
